Beat the rail strikes with a conference call

UK commuters are about to be hit with another round of rail strikes in December. Here’s all you need to know along with some information on how a conference call can help you avoid the travel chaos.

Why are we seeing more rail strikes?

The rail unions are in dispute with the rail companies and the government about proposed changes to working conditions and job cuts. There’s also the issue of low pay rises that, when coupled with rising inflation, actually work out as real-term pay cuts.

It’s an inconvenience when services are disrupted, but striking is the only way workers and unions can get their messages across.

When are the national rail strikes?

December and January will see a number of national rail strikes. One in five trains are expected to run on strikes days and it will affect all regions and all operators.

If the December rail strikes don’t break the deadlock, then more strikes are planned for January. They are on the following days:

  • Tuesday, January 3 and Wednesday, January 4
  • Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7
