As unlikely as it may sound, it appears the humble conference call is taking the arts and entertainment world by storm.
Hot on the heels of Tripp and Tyler’s Conference call in real life sketch comes ConferenceCall.biz, a microsite in which artist Zach Scott has spliced together 75 recorded calls with old videos and stills to create what could be the tenth circle of Hell – had Dante ever spent any of his time working in a modern office.
Surreal qualities
Scott says he wanted to highlight some of the surreal qualities of the conference call and use randomisation for the website’s framework to show that conference calls are all somehow different yet essentially the same.
The conference call you get when you hit the ‘JOIN’ button will be different each time you visit the site as a new, random set of voices are played in an ever-changing order.
