If you’ve taken on a new smartphone contract in the last six months or so, you’ve probably asked yourself: “Is 4G worth it?”

Well if the findings of a recent Ofcom study are anything to go by, it seems 4G is worth it, as it consistently outperforms 3G in terms of mobile broadband performance.

Google is going to kill us all one day!

While, there’s no doubting the tech boom we’ve seen since the turn of the millennium has made our lives easier and more enjoyable – where would we be without superfast broadband and smartphones? – that’s only half the story, as there are some crazy inventors out there (at Google, mostly) coming up with some quite terrifying tech.

It’s like they’ve never seen Terminator or even heard any apocalyptic sci-fi stories.

Be afraid, be very afraid…

Ok, so you’ve set up your conference call, sent emails to all the participants and set up text message reminders to make sure even the most absent-minded don’t forget about it.

Then you check your calendar in Outlook and someone has gone and scheduled a meeting for the exact time you booked a conference call – it’s not their fault, they couldn’t see your plans in the company calendar.

Until now…

Technology is progressing at a break-neck speed and making life a lot easier for all of us – arguably a little too easy if you consider how our cars will soon be parking themselves, while out smartphones become our PA’s – but what about when technology starts taking our jobs?

Although it sounds like the dystopian future of some science fiction novel, a study from Oxford University suggests a third of the British workforce could be replaced by machines withing the next 20 years.

And, unsurprisingly, it’s those at the lower end of the pay scale who will suffer with jobs that pay £30,000 or under around five times as likely to fall foul of tech than those that pay upwards of £100,000.

Yesterday we looked at hold music and whether or not you require a licence to play it.

Today we stumbled across some top pop music based on making a conference call and being stuck on hold. It could be metaphorical, it could be literal, but who cares when it sounds this good?

Want to hear it? Of course you do…

Google is releasing a smartphone that costs less than £100 – the trouble for us here in the UK is that it’s getting released in India.

Yes, just a week after Apple informed us we’ll have to pay upwards of £500 for a brand new iPhone, Google announces it will be releasing a smartphone in India for just 6,499 rupees – that’s about £65.

As expected, Apple has announced the iPhone 6 will come in two sizes – both bigger than the 5S – and they’ve also jumped aboard the wearable tech bandwagon with the much-anticipated launch of the Apple Watch.

Note, it’s not an iWatch.

Apple cheif executive, Tim Cook, has declared the iPhone 6 to be “the biggest advancement in the history of iPhone” – which you would expect, really – while Phil Schiller, senior vice president, was a bit more bullish stating the two new iPhones were “the best phones ever made.”

So what can we expect from the iPhone’s latest incarnation?

In case you haven’t heard, Apple is going to be unveiling its sixth-generation iPhone tomorrow – but what if you don’t care too much for Apple’s offerings, what’s out there to get your heart-rate app skipping a beat?
