We’ve all be guilty of mutli-tasking while teleconferencing – whether it’s conference calling while on the commute, continuing to type up some notes, checking in on Facebook, or even taking a shower (no, really). It’s fair to assume that no-one sits on a conference call without doing anything else.
But one woman in the US as just raised the bar when it comes to teleconference multitasking.
Cashback conference call
An office worker from New Jersey hit the jackpot while on a conference call – landing $287,945 from an online casino. And from a $2 bet!
The woman, who hasn’t been named, posted about her unbelievable good luck in the online casino’s chat room, claiming she screamed out loud when she cashed in – a massive no-no in terms of conference call etiquette, but understandable, all the same.
There’s been no confirmation of what she said, but screeching with delight during a conference call would take some explaining. Unless, of course, she’d hit the mute button, something we’d always advise at any point you’re not speaking – you’d be surprised how easy it is to sound like a heavy-breathing nuisance caller when you don’t mute yourself during a call, especially if you’re using a conference call phone with a high-quality speaker.
The casino has claimed that the lucky winner has been gambling regularly online since January, but there is also the chance the story is has come from their marketing team. It’s a story that is perfect for viral online marketing.
We like to think it’s a true story, even though we don’t recommend multi-tasking during conference calls or using online casinos, and hope the worker in question is enjoying her winnings.
